International IDEA and the International Center for Local Democracy (ICLD), a Swedish organization dedicated to strengthening local democracy, will once again organize a one-day dialogue training for 26 women local government councilors from nine countries. Participants will be from Mozambique, South Africa, Namibia, Zambia, Botswana, Uganda and Tanzania, Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina. The training will take place at IDEA Headquarters in Stockholm.

Within the joint International IDEA-NIMD project “Respect for women’s political rights: fostering Political Environments for Equal Participation and Leadership of Women in Political Parties”, workshops were held with six Tunisian political parties, between July and September 2017, to assist them in developing national action plans to promote women political participation within their ranks.
The 29th Assembly of Heads of States of African Union (AU) highlighted the need for the Continental organization to go beyond Vulnerability Assessment and to adopt a more Structural Preventive Diplomacy approach in order to contribute substantially to the achievement of the AU agenda 2020 on Silencing the Guns in Africa and to the First Ten Years Implementation Plan of the AU Agenda 2063.

On 13 -14 June 2017, International IDEA is hosting a round table discussion on Cybersecurity in Elections. The event, taking place in The Hague, will provide electoral management bodies (EMBs), cybersecurity agencies and experts from across Europe and the United States an opportunity to exchange experiences related to recent concerns about an increase in hacking attacks against elections.
