Mobile voting can broadly be defined as a form of voting where members of the election administration visit a voter either at home or at an institution in which they reside with a mobile ballot box to facilitate their vote. While mobile voting can help increase the accessibility of the vote for groups that would otherwise be unable to vote, maintaining secrecy of the vote and ensuring that votes are cast without coercion are of greater concern with this method.
Opportunities for early voting have increasingly been adopted by countries in Europe. Early voting allows a voter to cast her/his ballot in-person ahead of the main and the last voting day. Thus, unlike in other Special Voting Arrangements (SVAs), voting is still conducted in a controlled environment. While the method broadens the opportunity to vote, it adds complexity to the tasks of electoral management bodies (EMBs) who need to ensure that votes are cast and counted properly.
