Lebanon never used open source systems in administering previous elections. However, there is a great tendency to use it in coming elections in building an online database for voting centers. Many NGOs used open source systems on small scale in the previous elections.

 

In the previous election, many Lebanese NGOs used OSS in presenting election data and mapping it. One example is LADE project in mapping data regarding voters’ gender, turnout, votes...etc. using OSS software such as Map Box.  More information can be found here: http://lebanonelectiondata.org/

 

Several experts have said that the success in these projects may convince the MoIM to build a new website that contains electronic voters list especially that the law ask the relevant authorities to publish electronic voters’ lists for review.

Many NGOs used open source systems on small scale in the previous elections to design programs that analyze voter registration data.
