Is e-voting currently used in any elections with EMB participation?
South Sudan
South Sudan is a relatively new state, which has not conducted elections since the secession from the North. According to the Chairperson of the National Elections Commission, the electronic voting is unknown as per the moment. The chairperson states that they are due to hold elections in 2015, but this may be postponed due to a number of factors, such as the recent clashes in the area. The chairperson further reiterates that the state of use of technology in electoral processes has not yet been decided on, and that is something that will discussed at a later stage.
In addition, there is the fact that most of the voters in South Sudan are illiterate and this poses a challenge when it comes to the usage of technology in voting processes.
