47. Do political parties have to report regularly on their finances?

Section 3, Bundesgesetz über die Finanzierung politischer Parteien
[§ 5. (1)Jede politische Partei, die im Nationalrat, in einem Landtag oder im Europäischen Parlament im Berichtsjahr vertreten war, hat über ihre Erträge und Aufwendungen jährlich mit einem Rechenschaftsbericht öffentlich Rechenschaft abzulegen. Dieser Bericht hat in einer Anlage auch alle Gliederungen der Partei zu erfassen. Der Rechenschaftsbericht unterteilt sich in zwei Berichtsteile. Die Erstellung des jeweiligen Berichtsinhaltes obliegt der betreffenden Parteiorganisation. Soweit eine Partei im Sinne des § 1 als territoriale Gliederung (Landes-, Bezirks-, Gemeindeorganisationen) oder nicht-territoriale Gliederung bereits von einem Rechenschaftsbericht gemäß Z 2 miterfasst ist, gilt ihre Rechenschaftspflicht als erfüllt.]

§ 5. (1)Every political party that was represented in the National Council, a state parliament or the European Parliament in the reporting year must publicly give an annual account of its income and expenses in an annual report. This report must also include all party structures in an appendix. The annual report is divided into two parts. The relevant party organization is responsible for preparing the respective report content. To the extent that a party within the meaning of Section 1 is already included in an accountability report in accordance with Section 2 as a territorial structure (state, district, municipal organizations) or non-territorial structure, its accountability obligation is deemed to have been fulfilled.
