27. Are there provisions requiring donations to go through the banking system?

Los precandidatos y candidatos en circunscripciones mayores de diez mil electores están en la obligación de depositar todas las contribuciones privadas que reciban y los aportes que hagan de sus propios recursos para sus campañas, en una cuenta única de campaña en el Banco Nacional de Panamá o en la Caja de Ahorros. Todos los gastos de campaña también deberán pagarse de dicha cuenta.

Article 232:
Precandidates and candidates in constituencies with more than ten thousand voters are obligated to deposit all private contributions they receive and the contributions they make from their own resources for their campaigns into a single campaign account at the National Bank of Panama or at the Savings Bank (Caja de Ahorros). All campaign expenses must also be paid from this account.

The creation of a single account for the management of all resources intended for the financing of the electoral campaign is established. It applies to candidates that belong to constituencies with more than ten thousand (10,000) voters.
