34. Are there provisions for free or subsidized access to media for candidates?

The relevant laws do not specify any provision for candidates, however, The High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HACA) determines the time allocated to parties and candidates. For instance,during the 2021 elections, the political parties, not represented within the two chambers of parliament, would be able to benefit from 20% of the airtime, while those which currently have parliamentarians would see grant 30% of the scheduled hourly volume. For the latter, the HACA  reserved 50% of the time devoted to the candidates' interventions in the media, all categories combined, concerned by this decision.
