26. Is there a ban on donors to political parties/candidates participating in public tender/procurement processes?

Subsection 363(1): “No person or entity other than an individual who is a Canadian citizen or is a permanent resident as defined in subsection 2(1) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act shall make a contribution to a registered party, a registered association, a nomination contestant, a candidate or a leadership contestant.”
(Canada Elections Act, 2000 - last amended on 29 June 2021).
As per Section 363 (1) of the Canada Elections Act, corporates are banned from donating to political parties or candidates. However, there is no ban on individuals employees or executives of a business making a donation to political parties and candidates, and then their business or organization bidding on contracts,
