Declaration of assets in Mozambique is regulated in scattered legislation. Laws have followed each other over time with the same content, without explicitly repealing the previous legislation. Asset disclosures, however, are not made public. Law No. 4/90, which lays down the norms of conduct, rights and duties of high-ranking state leaders, states in Article 7 the obligatory declaration of assets by the holders of government office. This law prohibits the involvement of high-ranking state officials in paid activities within their areas of responsibility. It also requires these officials to declare their assets and sources of income.
