In June, the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC) Programme, funded by the European Union and implemented by International IDEA, conducted an entry visit to Abia State. This visit marked a significant step in the programme's mission to expand its impact at subnational levels in their social, political, and economic development.
The primary objectives were to introduce RoLAC's mission, establish strategic partnerships, and gather insights to inform the programme's activities in Abia State.
The team was received by the executive governor of the state, Dr Alex Otti, who expressed his profound excitement for the projected impact the programme outcomes will have on the citizens of the state. During this meeting, the International IDEA team presented the RoLAC Description of Action (DoA) to the governor. The state showed enthusiasm for the support and expressed willingness to provide everything necessary to ensure the success of the programme's aims and objectives.
“We are looking forward to the outcomes of your and the European Union’s investment in the great state of Abia. There is a lot we can do together, and we are happy to support and provide all necessary systems and structures to ensure that you and us succeed together” – Dr Alex Otti, executive governor of Abia State.
The meeting with the governor was followed by combined meetings with boundary partners on. These meetings aimed to map out key partners, understand local contexts and lay the groundwork for impactful programmatic activities.
