The Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC) Programme Phase II, funded by the European Union and implemented by International IDEA, continues to make significant strides in promoting justice sector reforms in Nigeria. One of the focal areas of the programme is enhancing the performance, quality, and oversight of the criminal justice system, particularly in Edo state.

Recognizing the critical role effective communication plays in driving these reforms, the RoLAC II Programme organized a three-day capacity-building workshop aimed at equipping key stakeholders in Edo's justice sector with essential media engagement skills. Participants included representatives from the Judiciary, the Ministry of Justice, the Police, the Edo State Administration of Criminal Justice Monitoring Committee (ACJMC), and the Justice Sector Reform Team. Together, they engaged in discussions and training sessions that emphasized the importance of public awareness and transparency within the justice system.

The workshop focused on developing information, education, and communication materials tailored to each institution, ensuring that stakeholders can effectively disseminate information about ongoing reforms and their achievements. By enhancing their media engagement capabilities, these boundary partners can better leverage media platforms to create awareness, foster public participation, and strengthen the overall integrity of the justice system.

In addition to justice sector reforms, the RoLAC Programme is also committed to enhancing the capacity of procurement agencies in Edo State, particularly the Edo State Public Procurement Agency (EDPPA). This agency plays a pivotal role in ensuring transparent and effective procurement processes. To further support the EDPPA's mission, the RoLAC Programme is focused on building the capacity of the Agency's media team, empowering them to communicate their successes and ongoing projects effectively.

As the EDPPA adopts international best practices in procurement, improving its visibility and public perception is crucial for fostering transparency and building public trust. By equipping the media team with the tools and strategies necessary for effective communication, the agency can enhance public awareness and encourage informed participation in Edo State's procurement processes.

Together, these initiatives mark significant progress in promoting accountability and transparency in both the justice and procurement sectors, demonstrating the RoLAC Programme's commitment to consolidating the rule of law and anti-corruption reforms in Nigeria.
