The Swedish Parliament's Committee on Constitutional Affairs and Marcela Rios, International IDEA's Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean.
Marcela Ríos, International IDEA's Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), met with representatives of the Swedish Parliament's Committee on Constitutional Affairs, who officially visited Chile.

The meeting, which was an invitation from the Swedish ambassador to Chile, Thomas Wiklünd, delved into a comprehensive analysis of the state of democracy in the country, lessons and challenges left by the constituent processes, and reviewed the issues of electoral institutionality in Chile and the region. The impacts of the change from voluntary to compulsory voting were also deepened, in the work in matters such as migration, security and promotion of rights.

Along with providing a detailed analysis of the regional and Chilean situation, Marcela Ríos took the opportunity to thank the Swedish support to International IDEA and inform them of the work that International IDEA is doing in the region.

He also commented that the report on the Global State of Democracy will be presented soon.

The meeting was beneficial in promoting IDEA's work to parliamentarians from a member country and in generating links that allow collaborative spaces in IDEA's projects in the region.
