International IDEA Secretary-General attends the IX High Level Meeting on “The European Peace: What is Recipe for a Strong Union for All?” in Sarajevo

On 22 and 23 November, International IDEA’s Secretary General, travelled to Sarajevo Bosnia and Herzegovina to attend the IX High Level Meeting on “The European Peace: What is Recipe for a Strong Union for All?” organized by the Nizami Ganjavi International Center.

The meeting was attended by other current and former heads of state or government and academics who gathered to discuss peace and unity in Europe. International IDEA’s Secretary-General participated in two panel discussions: one on the “European Future for the Bosnia and Herzegovina”, in which he contributed to the discussion on the lessons learned from the Dayton Peace Agreement and the consolidation of peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Balkans. The other panellists included Mr Igor Crnadak, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Mr Zlatko  Lagumdzija, Chairman  of  the  Council  of  Ministers  of  Bosnia  and Herzegovina 2001-2002.

International IDEA’s Secretary-General also participated in a panel on Chartering a “New European Map for Citizens”, in which he discussed how to engage citizens and future generations in Europe. The other panellists included Ms Eka Tkeshelashvili, Deputy Prime Minister of Georgia (2010-2012); Mr Edmond Alphenderry, Minister of Economy of France 1993-1995; and Antonio Zanardi Landi, Diplomatic Counsellor to the President of Italy (2013-2015).
