International IDEA and the Electoral Integrity Project announce the 2016 EIP/International IDEA graduate student essay prize winner

International IDEA and the Electoral Integrity Project are delighted to announce the 2016 EIP/International IDEA graduate student essay prize winner – Kirill Kalinin (University of Michigan).

Kirill Kalinin is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Political Science at the University of Michigan. His paper "Signaling Games of Election Fraud" introduces a theoretic approach to understanding election fraud under autocracies by suggesting a signaling model of election fraud and testing basic implications using unique data sets from Russian and cross-national settings. The paper presents an interesting theoretical approach for considerations of the contributors to contentious elections and will be presented at the International IDEA/EIP pre IPSA workshop in Poznań Poland on 23 July 2016.
