Gabon - The code of good conduct for presidential candidates reaches a new goal
LIBREVILLE, 8 April 2025 - Continuing their advocacy efforts for peaceful and transparent elections, the Moral Guarantors of the Code of Good Conduct proposed by the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) announce the signing of the code by candidate Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema this Tuesday, 8 April 2025.
To date, the code has already been signed by candidates Axel Stophène Ibinga Ibinga, Brice Oligui Nguema, Gninga Chaning Zenaba, Joseph Lapensée Essingone, Stéphane Germain Iloko Boussengui and Thierry Yvon Michel N'Goma. The 6 signatory candidates have pledged to reject all violence before, during and after the presidential election on 12 April 2025, and to respect the final results proclaimed by the Constitutional Court.
The Moral Guarantors are continuing their efforts to obtain the signatures of the last two candidates.
The code of conduct is part of the “Support for participatory, inclusive and human rights-based constitutional and institutional reforms to contribute to a rapid return to a sustainable constitutional order and prevent electoral violence in Gabon” (DEMGAB) project, financed by the European Union and its member countries.

Gabon – Le code de bonne conduite des candidats à l’élection présidentielle franchit une nouvelle étape.
LIBREVILLE, le 09 avril 2025 – Dans la continuité de leurs efforts de plaidoyer pour des élections apaisées et transparentes, les Garants Moraux du Code de Bonne Conduite proposé par l’Institut International pour la Démocratie et l’Assistance Electorale (IDEA International) annoncent la signature du code par le candidat Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema ce mardi 08 avril 2025.
A ce jour, le code a déjà reçu les signatures des candidats Axel Stophène Ibinga Ibinga, Brice Oligui Nguema, Gninga Chaning Zenaba, Joseph Lapensée Essingone, Stéphane Germain Iloko Boussengui et Thierry Yvon Michel N’Goma. Les 6 candidats signataires se sont engagés à rejeter toutes violences avant, pendant et après le scrutin présidentiel du 12 Avril 2025, mais également à en respecter les résultats définitifs proclamés par la Cour Constitutionnelle.
Les Garants Moraux continuent leurs efforts afin d’obtenir la signature des deux derniers candidats.
Le code de bonne conduite s’inscrit dans le cadre du projet d’« Appui aux réformes constitutionnelles et institutionnelles participatives, inclusives et fondées sur les droits de l'homme pour contribuer au retour rapide à un ordre constitutionnel durable et prévenir la violence électorale au Gabon » (DEMGAB) financé par l'Union européenne et ses pays membres.
