Discussions with opinion leaders and influential figures

In its efforts to contribute to the appeasement of the situation and restore confidence among stakeholders, International IDEA Chad's Programme, through its Mediation component, met with several opinion leaders and influential personalities from some religious, traditional and professional bodies. These included the Ethics, Justice and Peace Commission of the Higher Committee for Islamic Affairs, the High Council of Communities and Traditional Leaders and a representative of the Committee of Elders.

The meetings enabled the identification of avenues for International IDEA support to these corporations through its Chad programme and reduced tensions among actors. In the wake of the Inclusive National Sovereign Dialogue (DNIS) and the aftermaths of the deadly clashes of 20 October 2022, this process is geared to allow Chadian actors to fully engage in creating the conditions for a peaceful transition.
