Project Article 49 Final Conference: Working Towards a New Era in the Protection of Fundamental Rights in Tunisia

Join us for Project Article 49's final conference, held on 30 and 31 May 2021, to discuss the topic: Working Towards a New Era in the Protection of Fundamental Rights in Tunisia.
The Project Article 49's main objective is to contribute to the improvement of the protection of fundamental rights by supporting the legal community (including judges, lawyers and academics), public officials (parliamentarians, ministry officials, and local government officials) and civil society organizations in their efforts to bring their working methods in line with the Tunisia's 2014 constitution’s framework for the protection of fundamental rights.
The project addresses the objective to "promote the strengthening of democracy, the rule of law and human rights". The project seeks to contribute to clarifying the utility and scope of proportionality, both through a discussion of its merits in the absolute and through a literal reading and interpretation of article 49 of the 2014 Constitution. This project is supported by the German Federal Foreign Office.
The virtual conference will feature high-level presentations and panel discussions, all of which will be recorded, to ensure as wide participation as possible, given the different time zones of the participants. In order to make the sessions interactive, we aim to include moderated chats, questions and polling.
We also anticipate discussion forums on Twitter, Facebook and other platforms to stimulate the debate and exchange online.
