Peace, Justice, and Inclusive Institutions for a Sustainable Future for All
According to the UN Secretary-General’s Sustainable Development Goals Report of 2024, only 17% of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) were on track to meet their targets by 2030, with SDG 16 on peace, justice and inclusive institutions severely off track. The upcoming Summit of the Future will serve as a critical moment for Member States to commit to further action around a wide range of issues related to SDG16+ with lasting impacts on future generations.
Promoting peaceful and inclusive societies, providing access to justice for all, and building effective, transparent and accountable institutions are key to achieving sustainable development. SDG 16 is thus an enabler, accelerator and one of the key conditions for achieving all SDGs through its cross-cutting characteristics that address complex interlinkages across the entire 2030 Agenda.
Organized by International IDEA, the Permanent Mission of Luxembourg to the UN, and members of the Global SDG16+ Coalition, this event will bring high-level speakers for a discussion on the achievements, good practices, gaps, and challenges in the implementation of SDG 16, and the importance of partnerships and investments in SDG 16 for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda to ensure lasting and positive results for generations to come.
