Measuring Parliaments’ Effectiveness within Democracy

Helping parliaments evaluate their performance and strengthen democratic governance through data-driven assessment tools will be in focus at the AGORA Community of Practice Workshop on "Measuring Parliaments’ Effectiveness within Democracy", held online on 23 October 2024, from 14:00 to 16:15 CEST.

This workshop will introduce participants to International IDEA’s Democracy Assessment Tools, including the Global State of Democracy (GSoD) Indices and the Democracy Tracker. These tools are designed to support parliaments in evaluating their performance and contributing to broader democratic governance.

The event will feature:

• A live demonstration of the GSoD Indices and Democracy Tracker, showcasing their application to parliamentary contexts.
• An interactive Practice Lab, where participants will engage directly with these tools in teams.
• Expert discussions on the role of parliaments in democracy, focusing on how comparative indicators can better reflect parliamentary performance.
