IPCAT Workshop for Indigenous Peoples Champions
Twenty representatives from 11 indigenous tribes in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) selected as IP Champions, are attending a weeklong training on International IDEA’s Indigenous Peoples’ Rights in Constitutions Assessment Tool (IPCAT). The 20 IP Champions were selected to participate in this project that promotes the rights of indigenous peoples’ rights in the Philippines. The training will focus on how IPCAT methodology can be used and utilised to better understand and assess legal frameworks and their implementation for ensuring rights of Indigenous Peoples; and if these laws and policies in the Philippines are in line with internationally recognized rights and standards.
Funded by the European Union; the project “IP Champions: Advancing Indigenous Peoples Rights in the Philippines” is implemented by International IDEA and the Institute for Autonomy and Governance.
