International IDEA AWA International Day of Democracy 2024

International IDEA Africa and West Asia Programme is proud to announce the hosting of its annual International Day of Democracy Roundtable in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Skylight Hotel on September 17, 2024.

The theme of the 2024 International Day of Democracy commemorative event - “Exploring African Perspectives on Democracy: Promoting Inclusive Governance for the Future” - will focus on the important roles of women and youth in redefining democracy in Africa. African women and youth are navigating a context in which democracies are increasingly threatened by various factors, ranging from the impact of digitalization, to proliferating populism, and eroded trust in political institutions.

Convening an array of experts, policymakers and academics, including representatives of International IDEA Member States, the African Union, civil society actors, and think tanks.
