International Anti-Corruption Conference
The 21st International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC) will take place in Vilnius, Lithuania from 18-21 June 2024. On 19 June, International IDEA, together with Transparency International and International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) is organizing a workshop on the topic Protecting Elections from Illicit Funding: Towards Enhanced Global Standards in Political Finance. The workshop will bring diverse perspectives and lessons learned from the government, oversight agency, civil society, and media to propose solutions and strategies for global action on enhanced political finance transparency. The approaches and tools proposed will pave the way for a UNCAC resolution on this topic to be tabled at the next UNCAC COSP11 in 2025 in Doha. The workshop will feature Yukihiko Hamada, Programme Manager for Money in Politics (MiP).
In addition, Khushbu Agrawal, Adviser for MiP will serve as a panelist in the workshop Building Resilient Democracies: Strengthening Civil Society to Counter Autocratization Tendencies, organized by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), to be held on 20 June 2024 from 14:30-16:00.
IACC is the world’s premier global forum for bringing together heads of state, civil society, the private sector and more to tackle the increasingly sophisticated challenges posed by corruption. Established in 1983, the IACC takes place usually every two years in a different region of the world, and hosts from 800 to 2000 participants from over 135 countries worldwide.
