The Global State of Democracy: Presentation of International IDEA's 2023 Report
International IDEA and the Embassy of Sweden in Washington, DC are delighted to host an event in celebration of International IDEA’s recently published Global State of Democracy Report. The event will be held in-person at House of Sweden, and will also be live streamed for people abroad to watch the event online.
The event will begin with opening remarks from H.E. Urban Ahlin, Ambassador of Sweden to the United States, and a presentation of the 2023 Global State of Democracy Report by Dr. Kevin Casas-Zamora, Secretary-General of International IDEA. The presentation will be followed by a panel discussion with leading international experts on the current challenges and opportunities for democracy around the world.
The event will conclude with a special performance in celebration of Lucia Day - a Swedish tradition that brings light to the darkest month of the year. A Nordic lunch buffet will follow, providing an opportunity for networking and further discussion.
