On 4-5 June 2024, International IDEA’s Secretary-General Kevin Casas-Zamora will deliver a keynote speech at the third edition of the Global Forum Symposium, under this year's topic “Combating Illicit Financial Flows to Safeguard Democracy, Good Governance and Peace”.

Hosted by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH under the umbrella of the Global Program Combating Illicit Financial Flows, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and co-financed by the Norwegian Ministry for Foreign Affairs, this event is cornerstone to strengthen the sustainable development policy perspective within the international system fighting illicit financial flows (IFFs)

The biennial Global Forum Symposium is designed to foster the dialogue between all relevant stakeholders in fighting illicit financial flows. Policymakers, law enforcement authorities, financial sector representatives, civil society organizations, and academia converge at this influential event.

The Global Forum Symposium aims to include actors not typically involved in international standard-setting processes, to incorporate their views in the global agenda. With each iteration, the Global Forum Symposium delves into specific technical sub-topics, unravelling the intricate linkages between combating illicit financial flows and fostering sustainable development.
