Dialogue series to support Yemen’s peace process
In the later part of 2016, the United Nations’ Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General to Yemen (“UNOSESGY”) requested International IDEA to provide assistance to Yemen’s constitutional process.
Within this framework, International IDEA is co-hosting a dialogue session on 26-27 January in Tunis, Tunisia as the third meeting as part of an ongoing series. The dialogues aim to increase the likelihood that a settlement will be reached in the constitution-making process, which would thereby allow for the country’s stabilisation and possible improvement to its governance framework. The dialogues will be structured as a series of detailed discussions on the procedural and substantive issues of the constitution-making process in order to reach an acceptable outcome for a sufficient proportion of Yemen’s population and political forces. Each dialogue session will include 20-30 Yemeni from across professional sectors and political affiliations.
