The Halving Global Violence Task Force is a coalition of world leaders and experts committed to leveraging their knowledge, expertise, and networks to identify and promote solutions to significantly reduce global violence. The Task Force seeks to accomplish its ambitious goal of cutting global violence in half by focusing its efforts on dramatically reducing violence where it most often occurs and where there is greatest promise for a return of investment: outside of conflict zones in our homes, streets, and communities. The Task Force is led by Ministerial-level representatives from numerous member states with guidance from numerous experts from around the world, international organization officials, and civil society.

Its flagship report, “ Beyond the Battlefields: Practical Strategies to Halving Global Violence in Our Homes, Streets, and Communities,” captures more than three years of the initiative’s research and recommendations. The report highlights the prevalence of violence across countries and regions, its devastating economic and development costs, its impact on popular trust in democracy, and proven methods of preventing and reducing it, underscoring that halving global violence is in fact an achievable goal.

Format
During the Summit of the Future Action Days, we will hold a high-profile side event to publicize the report’s groundbreaking findings, and highlight avenues for uptake of its recommendations. The event will feature keynote speeches from member states representatives, presentations of findings, and an engaging discussion with high-level experts exploring specific violence prevention solutions.
