International IDEA’s Global State of Democracy Report is a flagship publication that provides evidence-based, balanced analysis and data on the state and quality of democracy for 173 countries across the world. It aims to contribute to the public debate on democracy and inform policy interventions to strengthen democracy. The Initiative’s primary knowledge products are the Democracy Tracker, the Global State of Democracy (GSoD) Indices, and the Global State of Democracy (GSoD) Reports. The Initiative also includes regional partnership networks and research and advocacy related to Sustainable Development Goal 16. The 2023 report includes a chapter on Africa that includes findings and recommendations to key actors in the region. Read the Africa findings here .

International IDEA's Africa and West Asia regional office in partnership with the Embassy of Switzerland in Ethiopia will organize the regional launch of the report in Addis Ababa on the 8th of February 2024, . The launching event will be organised , to with the objective to providing a platform to present the findings of the GSOD for the region and to interact with stakeholders on the report.
