Additional information
"Globally, some progress on women’s rights has been achieved. However, work still needs to be done in Equatorial Guinea to achieve gender equality. The proportion of women aged 20-24 years old who were married or in union before age 18 is 29.5%. The adolescent birth rate is 176 per 1000 population as of 2010, though down from 177 per 1000 population in 2008. As of February 2019, there are only 20% of parliament seats held by women. In 2011, 43% of women aged 15-49 years reported that they had been subject to physical and/or sexual violence by a current or former intimate partner in the previous 12 months. Moreover, women of reproductive age (aged 15-49 years) often face barriers with respect to their sexual and reproductive health and rights: the proportion of women who have their need for family planning satisfied with modern methods in year stood at 20.7%" (UN Women).
