The law provides that KPU is an independent body. In addition to KPU, Indonesia has also Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) and Election Administrators' Honorary Council (DKPP), which also participate in running the elections. But these two bodies perform mainly supervisory and dispute resolution functions.
