Paraguay

International IDEA opened its country office in Paraguay in 2018 with the purpose of cooperating with national actors in strengthening democracy. It supports the integrity and transparency of the electoral processes, through better financing controls, the deployment of local electoral observation and the exchange of good practices with international actors.

International IDEA in Paraguay promotes the political empowerment of women and the increase of their representation in decision-making spaces, particularly in positions of  elections. It promotes the participation of civil society and underrepresented groups in the public sphere so that their voices are better heard and influence public policies. It encourages research and reflection on issues of democracy.. It generates spaces for dialogue between political and social actors on reforms that increase participation and democratic inclusion.

International DEA contributes its technical expertise and specialized and comparative knowledge in the areas of electoral integrity, political financing, electoral systems, participation and political representation of women, civil society and underrepresented groups.
