Armenia
Following its Velvet Revolution in 2018, Armenia has registered significant democratic improvements. In conditions of heightened political polarization and security-related vulnerabilities, Armenia continues to tackle outstanding challenges in deepening democracy, with improvements noted its electoral environment, media freedoms and civil liberties.
Since 2020 International IDEA has supported the ongoing constitution review process by providing comparative constitutional expertise to the State Constitutional Commission and to a broader circle of constitution-makers within the Constitutional Reform Council. In addition, the Institute has held consultations with Armenia’s leading civil society organisations to contribute to fostering a collaborative reform environment and engagement of civil society experts in constitution review and reform processes.
