Nicholas Matatu
Nicholas Matatu is the Programme Manager at International IDEA's Africa and West Asia country office in Libreville, Gabon. He has over twenty years of electoral assistance experience, working closely with election management bodies and other election stakeholders in throughout the African continent. His areas of expertise are electoral operations; electoral planning; capacity building; civic & voter education; electoral violence; electoral security; and electoral risk management.
Prior to working for International IDEA in Gabon, Matatu occupied several roles in Liberia, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Senegal, Mali, Somalia, and Burkina Faso to support electoral operations, electoral training, civic and voter education and electoral violence monitoring. He previously worked for International IDEA from 2014-2019 based first in Stockholm and then in Addis Ababa with the Africa and West Asia regional programme, as the focal person for electoral processes in the region.
