Corina Rueda Borrero is the Project Manager for Parliamentary Support ‘Strengthening of Democratic Legislative Competencies in Panama’. Corina joined International IDEA in June 2024.
Corina is a lawyer, writer, and human rights defender. She holds a master’s degree in Gender, Policy and Inequalities from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and possesses different diplomas in governance, human rights, and democracy.
She has worked with women and youth deprived of liberty, sex workers, people with HIV, youth at social risk, pregnant adolescents, and indigenous and rural populations in Panama and Central America. She has also worked in the protection of civilians and has investigated human rights violations in conflict areas such as Afghanistan and Sudan.
Additionally, as a researcher, she has focused on the differential effects of gender and society in public policies and marginalized communities, political reproductions of gender, and access to humanness, having published in journals in Panama, Mexico, and the UK.
She currently has an opinion column in MÍA Magazine, the women's supplement of the newspaper La Estrella de Panamá, through a section entitled 'El grito de Rufina', where she addresses social and political issues from a feminist and human rights perspective.
